R
Resistance
Criticality: 3
Resistance is a measure of how much a material opposes the flow of electric charge, effectively hindering the movement of current.
Example:
A long, thin wire has higher resistance than a short, thick wire of the same material, making it harder for electrons to pass through.
Resistivity
Criticality: 3
Resistivity is an intrinsic material property that quantifies its inherent opposition to the flow of electric current, independent of its shape or size.
Example:
Copper has a very low resistivity, which is why it's commonly used for electrical wiring, allowing current to flow easily.
