Attribution Theory
A theory explaining how individuals explain the causes of behavior and events, attributing them to either internal dispositions or external situations.
Example:
When you try to figure out why your friend suddenly started acting quiet, you are engaging in Attribution Theory.
Dispositional Attribution (Internal)
Explaining someone's behavior by attributing it to their internal characteristics, such as personality traits, beliefs, or attitudes.
Example:
Believing that a student aced the exam because they are inherently intelligent and hardworking is an example of a Dispositional Attribution.
Person Perception
The process by which individuals form impressions and make judgments about other people.
Example:
Deciding whether a new classmate seems friendly or reserved based on their initial interactions is an act of Person Perception.
Social Psychology
The scientific study of how individuals think about, influence, and relate to one another.
Example:
Understanding why people conform to group norms in a classroom setting is a topic explored within Social Psychology.
